Hiram’s journey in culinary began at a young age, first through experiencing the rich and vibrant flavors of street tacos. Growing up in Tijuana, Baja California, México, his father would take him for tacos often- even after they moved to San Diego, CA, his family would cross the border frequently just to enjoy birria.
Taquisimo brings a unique piece of this authentic Mexican flavor to Somerville.
What makes this birria so special? Tijuana-style birria de res is beef cooked slowly in a consommé made with dried California chilies and spices. The tender meat is served either in crispy tacos or as a quesabirria with melted cheese. The result is a savory, well-spiced taco topped with fresh salsas and a side of consommé for dipping.
Hiram started Taquisimo in March 2022 as a pop up at Nibble Kitchen in Bow Market. The idea was to test the concept and see if the community would be as interested in the culinary delight of Tijuana-style tacos as he is, and the results were greater than he could have expected!
After a successful internship at Nibble Kitchen, Hiram decided to open his very own space at Bow Market to continue to share this experience with his community and introduce people to the flavors of Baja California street tacos.
